The Powercord that Cost Comcast $100’s.

I’m writing this all down, so people can stop asking me for the story.
 
So last Wednesday my last day of the week for work, was by far one of the worst days in the passed  years i worked there.
 
So the days starts out at the old folks home in Hammond, IN. The lady changed the channel on her TV, so it wouldn’t show our cable service, as soon as i walked into the room and seen the static on the TV, I told her what was wrong and there will be a charge for this service charge. She just got really pissed and said it wasn’t her fault. Told her I was sorry, had her sign, and she just started bitching and yelling at me as i walked out the door.
 
So the second house i go to had a handicapped guy, he had nothing from the waist down. Soon as i get in there, he tells me his remote is broke, i look at it, turn the TV and Cable box off and on, change channels get VOD working.. Told him it seems fine to me. Then he yells at me, and says i don’t know what the fuck I’m doing. I smile at him, and said i know more then he does. He tells me his DVD player doesn’t work, and our remote turns it on, when he hits the Play button. I tell him, I cant guarantee our remote will ever work for a DVD player. So i try and input the codes for that brand, and nothing. Then he is pissed, cursing me out, telling me I’m a piece of shit, and i have no idea what I’m talking about. He says he just wants to watch people fucking.. I at this point don’t know what to say, because this whole time his mother is behind me listing to this..
 
Well after some more fiddling around, with the remote, i can clearly see its not going to work for the guy, So i told him, that Comcast doesn’t guarantee customer Equipment and there is nothing i can do for him. He fucking throws the remote hits me in the side of the head, and tells me I’m a Piece of shit, and to send someone else who knows where there doing. Then at this point his mother says, You know i may look black, but I’m not, I’m a Jew. I’m like WTF does that have anything to do with anything… I just walk out the door, as he’s screaming and throwing shit, and yelling he wants his dirty movies.
 
So had to call it in, had to wait about 9 min before i get a hold of our dispatch, and low and behold, the guy had already called in on me, saying i talked shit to him, and That i Broke his DVD player.. It’s not even lunch yet, and at this point i feel like I’m getting a migraine. So i take a break and go lay down at our Hammond office while i wait for my 10-1s to come in.
 
So about 10:15 rules around and finally Auto Dispatcher gives me my jobs.
 
Side Note - I’m not sure what Higher Up loves Auto Dispatcher.. but FIX THE FUCKING THING FIRST! I’m tired of its flaws.. Makes us work Harder, Drive Longer, and just in General a POS.
 
So it gives me my first job, Go there was easy fix, Drop had Squirrel Chew, changed it, was out in 30 min. 2nd 10-1 was Little tougher. Ingress from a TV in the basement kept knocking there shit out. Then after that about 11:30 Auto Dispatcher gives me a 42 point install..
 
So everyone knows i Love my lunches.. i like food, i love sitting down with friends and Coworkers and talking. A 42 point install is about a 3.5 hour job. and its going to be about Noon when i get there. There goes taking lunch on time, and top it off, My Migraine is coming on full blown, so i take my meds, and call my Supervisor tell him i need helm. 
 
I get there and it should been only a 30 min job, Thank god The drop was good, all wires were Ran correctly. Just had to Reconfigure splitters for good power level to the Modem. BUT…
 
The rates, “The code that controls what people can see, use on one’s account” Where Jacked.. Call dispatch, wait 10 min, Dispatch says they have DCT’s on account. I put DCT’s on the account, Nothing, Call again, wait, oh its DTA’s, and there Rates are all wrong. K, Half the TV’s working. Call in again, and again, Multi dispatchers keep changing rates, finally shit is working. Entire time, I’m trying to get There Internet working, It was working for 5min, when i activated it. Phone works, Go to hook up there router, Bam, Internet wont work, My Supervisor goes to fix it, while i work on the other shit. Find out wall garden popped back up, Had to deal with that shit, and it fucks up, Then got to call Tac to finally get it working. So ends up being a 3.5 hour job, of sitting on my ass, waiting for people to fix shit, i cant fix.
 
So its 3:30, thinking i may get a lunch, NOPE, i get a 1-4 TZ “TZ’s are jobs that have had a Tech there with in 30 days and still have problems” Oh and its a TZ on myself, Great…
 
I get there, and his shit was Jacked. It was crazy.. The Box had great signal.. But was Scrabbling bad.. I change the Drop, Ground. Nothing. I change the Line going into the Attic, Change the Line going into his wall. Still fucked up. I then Run a Test Drop, from the Tap, All the way down his Yard, into his house and right into the damn box. HEY IT WORKS!!
 
So I’m thinking something is still fucked up, Replace Drop, Replace Line to box again.. Fucked up. I’m pissed, Angry, and crying off and on, my head is Killing me, I take more meds… 
 
So at this point, i run a Test Drop from Ground block, Works.. OK, Test drop from splitter in the Attic, works… Hey hey.. its the fucking line from the attic, to his box. I change that out. Btw, it was about 130 Degrees up there, and cramped.. I was Soaked when i was done, my Grey shirt, looked DARK grey. My head was soaked.
 
I finally hook up the TV, its got everything brand new to it now.. STILLL FUCKING FUCKED. At this point i tell the customer he has a Ghost in his house, and I’ll be right back. I call Nick and tell him i need him to come over, because I’m going insane. He agrees to meet me.
 
So he goes in, checks everything. Looks everything over. and is like Hmmm Looks good. Signal is perfect. But the Box is messed up.
 
I know at this point you think its the Box, well The Customer had JUST got one of the new 3400’s that day. These boxes are awesome. The box before that was doing the Same thing, it was the one i swapped out for the OLD one that the DVR died on.. Did not know that one was fucking up as well. So we Know its not a box problem.
 
Or he had a 1 in 10,000 odds of getting 3 bad boxes, and a bad new box.. Not likely..
 
So i think something in the Wall is fucked up, so he lets me run a new line around his house, and i install a new outlet on the other side of the room. Disco the old one, and hook him up to the new one. Still happening. I want to punch a puppy at this time. So maybe we think its the power.
 
So for the next hour and half, me and nick change everything we can think of. We brought the fucking DVR outside to my van, ran a long test drop from the ground block to my van, and hooked it up to my test TV. I shit you NOT, it worked for about 4 min nothing happens… was great, So we think its the guys power. We try different outlets in the house, Still doing it.
 
We Ran a Electric cord from my Van, to his Box in the house.. Still doing it..
 
So we bring the DVR back outside, and hook it up in my van again.. Fucking up.
 
So at this time we think hes the most unluckiest man in the world. So we call up and get him a Free Extra Box on the account, and we see if that one does it at the same time.. It was Perfect…..
 
So why does the DCT work perfect and the DVR not… The DVR been swapped out 4 times in a month period of time.
 
Well it finally dawns on Nick, The only thing we NEVER replaced.. The Electric cord to the back of the DVR. Every Tech does it, you swap out a box, you don’t change the power cord.. You use it. That’s what happened here, every tech swapped it out, never replaced it. We replace the fucking cord, and Wa La.. IT works. So now we got both the DCT and DVR working.. and now its 9:15pm at night. I had no lunch the entire day. I spent 5.5 Hours at a house with my supervisor, because the 1 in a Million Chance that a Power Cord can fuck up a box so bad, that has perfect Signal.
 
So yea, If your a Tech, you got great signal but the box fucks up, change the damn power cord.. Don’T need a 3$ cord costing Comcast $100’s
 
Worst day ever working for Comcast, felt like such an Idiot.

My Halo Mark VI Suit.

The posts below this you will see my PEP work so far for the Chest and Helm, The helm is my 2nd attempt at it, its almost 15% bigger then the last one I did. It’s almost 95% perfect, only have a few bad spots. The chest was our first try, and as you can see on the back, well its deformed in a lot of spots. We learned that we should put the support rods in to the model asap to keep it from caving in on its self. Also Thats my brother jeff in all the shots of the chest. As you can see it looks to be a little tight fit. So our next chest we do, we will make it about 5-7% larger.
